Clinic / First Step In


At Our First Check-Up Clinic, We Screen The Baby As Per Our Philosophy Of 'Intact Survival'. Various Common But Not Evident Diseases, If Present, Are Diagnosed. We Also Provide First Vaccination And Lactation Support, If Desired.

Our 'No Waiting OPD' Works On Appointment Basis Only To Give Each Baby Enough Attention And Proper Treatment. The Baby Is Screened For:

    High-Risk Clinic



    "Our Holistic Approach Extends To Infants Who Have Been Discharged From Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Based On Their Level Of Development, Degree Of Illness And Progress During Their NICU Stay, We Classify These Infants Into Three Distinct Groups:"


    Based On This, We Plan A Follow Up Schedule For Them.


    • Babies In The 'Mild' Category Are Followed Up Twice A Month For Up To 2 Months Of Corrected Age To Make Sure They Are Developing Normally, Both Physically And Mentally, Followed By Monthly Follow Up Till 6 Months Of Age And Regular Vaccination.

    • Babies In The 'Moderate' And 'Severe' Groups Are Followed Up Once In A Week For First Month, Followed By Twice A Month For Next 2 Months And Than Monthly Follow Up Till 6 Months Of Age And Regular Vaccination. After The Age Of 1 Year, Twice In The Second Year And Once Each Year Till They Are 5 Years Old.

    • To Ensure Normal Vision, Experienced Ophthalmologist Visit Our Centre Once A Week To Screen All The Babies At Risk.

    • Through Regular Auditory Assessment In High Risk Clinics, We Check For Proper Hearing Capability Development In Sick Neonates And Preemies.

    • High Risk Follow Ups Are Done In Separate Clinic For Special Cases.

    A Support Group By Nice Children Hospital Parents, For Nice Children Hospital Parents


    The Nice Children Hospital Parents' Support Group (NCHPSG) Has Been Formed By" Nice Children Hospital Mothers " Whose Babies Have Been Treated And Discharged From Our NICU. They Get Together Once A Month, Sharing Health Stories And Emotional Support With The Mothers Whose Babies Are Currently Being Treated At Nice Children Hospital NICU. This Gives Them Hope And A Feeling Of Someone Being There For Them. This Support Goes A Long Way In Easing Their Worries And Anxiety, Knowing That Others Have Gone Through What They're Facing And Have Achieved Positive Results. At Nice Children Hospital, It Is Our Endeavor To Create An Atmosphere Where Nice Children Hospital Parents Are Relaxed And Full Of Hopes. This Is Done Through A Care And Understanding Amongst Parents, Doctors & Supporting Staff In An Environment That Is Safe, Positive, And Promising.

    Breastfeeding Reinforces The Mother-baby Bonding & Provides The Baby Adequate Nutritional And Emotional Needs. Our Specially Trained Lactational Expert Is Available 24*7 To Support And Encourage Mothers Of Preemies To Express Breast Milk Using Total Aseptic Techniques By Breast Milk Pumps. In Case Of Mother Is Hospitalized Elsewhere, Our Dedicated Nurse Visits The Maternal Hospital And Collects The Expressed Breast Milk For The Sick Neonate. Nice Children Hospital Encourages Mothers For Exclusive Breastfeeding Of Their Babies Up To The Age Of 6 Months To Strengthen Their Bond & Avail Maximum Benefits. We Also Have Comfortable & Air-Conditioned Private Feeding Room For Mothers In Our OPD Area With Trained Nurse To Ensure A Hassle-Free Feeding Experience.

    Ante-Natal Counselling

    Special Ante-Natal Counselling Is Provided To Expectant Mothers Whose Fetus Is At Risk Either Because Of Mother's Disease Or Certain Structural And Congenital Problems. Our Team Works With Them, Clearing All Their Doubts, Future Outcome With Prognosis And Planning For Such High-Risk Deliveries And The Subsequent Transport And A Treatment Of Their Baby At Our NICU. Wherever Possible, We Encourage In Utero Transport For The High-Risk Pregnancy.

    Neonatal Emergency Transport System

    Nice Children Hospital Has A Fully Equipped Newborn Emergency Transport System (N.E.T.S.) With A Transport Incubator, Ventilator Support, Oxygen Supply And All Other Necessary Transport Equipments And That's Why We Call It As "NICU On Wheels" Which Has Already Saved The Many Lives Of Sick Neonates. Routine Transfer Of The Neonates Required In Case Of Baby From Level 1 Or 2 NICU, Requiring High Frequency Ventilator Support, Inhaled Nitric Oxide Therapy, Cooling Therapy, Requiring Surgical Interventions Or Micro Preemies Requiring Special Care & Support. A Well-trained Team Ensures That The Baby's Temperature Along With All Vital Parameters Are Maintained During The Transport With Continuous Monitoring Of The Baby's Condition. A Consultant Neonatologist With Minimum 2 Well Trained Staff And Driver Handles The Care During Transportation. This Helps In Reducing The Mortality As Well As Morbidity To A Significant Level.

    6. DISEASE SPECIFIC SCREENING: FOR HIGH RISK NEONATES
    7. SCREENING FOR CONGENITAL DYSPLASTIC HIP

    These Through Which Anomalies Can Be Detected At An Early Stage, Giving The Baby Enough Time For Treatment And Healthy Growth.

    It Is Recommended By Medical Councils Across The World And Is Mandatory For All Babies Born In Countries Such As UK, USA, Germany, Japan, Australia And Many More.

    The Chances Of Detecting A Condition


    The Chance Of Detecting An Individual Condition Is Small. However, It Must Be Noted That The Results Depend On The Conditions Included In The Screening And The Comprehensiveness Of The Programme. In Rare Cases When A Problem Is Found, Early Diagnosis And Treatment Help In Preventing The Associated Problems. If Your Baby Does Not Seem Well, Talk To A Doctor As Soon As Possible.

    The Course Of Action After An Abnormal Result


    When You Receive An Abnormal Result, You Will Be Notified Along With Your Paediatrician. If You Don’t Have One, We Will Put You In Touch With Our Network Of Doctors. You Can Decide The Course Of Action After You Receive The Screening Test Result.
